How to help

Obtaining National Register status will involve a great deal of work from Hollin Hills volunteers. Community members can help perform tasks that will help keep down the costs of this enormous project.

Donations

The effort will entail expenses, principally from hiring consultants to research, assemble, package, and present the voluminous documentation required by the nomination application. This part of the effort is of a scope beyond that the community can expect from volunteers.

We need your help to raise approximately $35,000 to cover the costs of the application process. We have promised gifts in hand of $6,000, but need much more to securely move this project forward. You can contribute to this effort to add Hollin Hills to the National Register as a historic district by using the donation form on the reverse.

Volunteer opportunities

We will be looking to our community members to help perform those tasks that will help us to keep down the costs of this enormous project. Please contact us to help out on this project. Tasks include:
  • Fundraising
  • Public relations
  • Computer work: data entry, database design and integration
  • Web site design, development, and updating
  • Design and desktop publishing services: flyers, press releases, signs
  • Researching and writing: articles for the Hollin Hills Bulletin and for the web site
  • Delivering information door-to-door
  • Posting signs
  • Surveying, measuring, drawing, photographing, and interviewing
  • Event arrangements and catering for special events and survey days

For further information or specific details, please contact Hollin Hills National Register Nomination Committee Co-chairs Jere Gibber or Pam Koger-Jesup. Please look for monthly articles in the Hollin Hills Bulletin; these will broaden our understanding of the project and related topics.

In the traditional spirit of Hollin Hills, success will require volunteering our time, our talent, and our money. We look forward to your assistance in this important project.
