Hollin Hills 2008 House and Garden Tour
Saturday, April 26
Noon – 6:00 p.m. (Rain or Shine)

Ticket Information: Tickets are $20 for general admission and $10 for students. Children under 12 do not need tickets but should be carefully supervised. Tickets can be purchased the day of the tour at the Hollin Hills swimming pool on the corner of Fort Hunt and Paul Spring roads from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. or at the Hollin Meadows Elementary School at 2310 Nordok Place from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Directions to both locations are below.

The 2008 Hollin Hills House and Garden Tour will showcase stunning examples of mid-century modern architecture, furnishings and a unique landscape style in which interior spaces flow into exteriors, and the grounds of one home merge with the next all in a park-like setting. The community’s award-winning design by midcentury master Charles Goodman features large expanses of glass, sleek lines and unusual settings that have earned the neighborhood national recognition since the 1950s.

New for 2008 -- Pre-tour Lecture!

A pre-tour lecture, "Hollin Hills: Modern Becomes Historic," will be a special addition to this year’s event.

Architectural historian John Burns will lead a discussion on the original design types and the evolution of architecture over the past fifty years. Landscape architect Dennis Carmichael will speak about the common area landscape of Hollin Hills as well as the contemporary garden types. This visual survey of the architecture and landscapes of Hollin Hills—from its inception as a post- war garden neighborhood through its maturity as an historic district— will form a strong foundation of understanding for any tour goer.

The lecture takes place from 11:00 a.m. – Noon at Hollin Meadows Elementary School. The lecture is free and open to the public.
